Company Introduction

Granite Construction Inc. was founded in the early 1900’s and is one of the largest infrastructure, heavy civil, and transportation contractors in the United States. The company specializes in transportation infrastructure, and performs site preparation services in the private sector.

The Challenge

Granite was working on a tunnel construction project out in Orlando, Florida in collaboration with Brightline Trains and Petrucco (Italian- based general contractor specializing in box-jacking systems). Granite needed to effectively monitor the curing strength and progress of their concrete slabs in order to meet their project requirements.

The Solution

Granite chose LumiCon Concrete Sensors for their reliability, real- time data transmission, and intuitive software experience. LumiCon uses the power of the cloud to constantly transmit concrete temperature data to your mobile device.

The Result

Using LumiCon Concrete Sensors, Granite was able to accurately and confidently monitor the curing progress of their concrete slabs throughout the entire duration of the project. The sensors were easy to install and set up, allowing Granite to seamlessly start collecting concrete temperature and strength information. The data they collected was both reliable and in line with the project engineer’s specifications.

The LumiCon software was very user friendly and let me see my data instantly without any hassle or connection issues. The data was very consistent across all of the sensors, with very little to no deviation whatsoever.

— Felix Magallanes (Field Engineer, Granite Construction)
