Company Introduction
Rizzani de Eccher is an Italian general contractor that provides construction services for building, civil, and infrastructure projects around the world. Founded in 1831, the company has over 3400 employees and has provided their specialized expertise across numerous projects including the High Five Interchange in Dallas, USA and the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Challenge
Rizzani was chosen to take part in a three-part precast project coordinated by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six and the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX). The superstructure project involves repairs and upgrades to three separate highways converging at a single junction, as well as a brand-new signature bridge with unique archways to add to the city’s skyline. Concrete sensors were already being used for this project, however they did not provide any reporting capabilities. The company was looking for a better concrete sensing solution that would wirelessly transmit data pertaining to their precast elements over the cloud.
The Solution
Rizzani de Eccher chose LumiCon Concrete Sensors for their easy plug-and-play installation, remote monitoring capabilities, and real-time data collection. Advanced cloud-based software gave Rizzani the ability to generate and distribute custom reports with stakeholders.
The Result
LumiCon Concrete Sensors gave Rizzani complete visibility into the status of their concrete slabs, from the initial pour to the final curing stages. The sensors were easy to install and maintained an accuracy of ±0.4ºC.
