Measuring Concrete Temperatures in Harsh Weather Conditions
Extreme weather conditions are tough to work in, be it hot or cold. The harsh climate affects the performance of everything on the job-site and is very problematic when it comes to monitoring the strength of concrete. Any change in outside weather conditions could hinder its curing progress. If it’s too cold, water could freeze up and prevent expansion. If it’s too hot, the water within a slab could evaporate entirely, leaving nothing but aggregate and cement. Both of these scenarios basically cut a slab’s overall strength by half, but standard temperature measurement equipment like thermocouples can’t give accurate results in conditions like these, so it becomes very difficult to verify.
