The Road to The Future, Built With IoT
Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a world where traffic jams didn’t exist? Well, with a little help from technology, that world is just around the corner.
One of the more promising integrations of IoT is with transportation. As we continue to blanket the surface of our world with endless ribbons of road networks and highways, the focus now is being able to keep the ever-increasing traffic constantly flowing both on and off-peak hours. Connecting vehicles and transportation infrastructure together through new technologies like IoT can help optimize that entire process, resulting in reduced traffic congestion, lower chances of gridlock, and even better overall traffic flow on highways and main roads. The automotive industry has – to a certain extent – begun working with C-V2X standards which allow cars to communicate with other cars on the roads. Expanding this system will enable those same cars to then communicate with infrastructure elements like traffic and lane management lights.
